Most Businesses Don't Need More Marketing.

They Need Someone Who Will Tell Them the Truth About Theirs.

I'm Martin.

I have spent my career looking at businesses from the outside, seeing what the people inside them have stopped being able to see, and finding what is actually holding growth back.

I've done that as the head of an advertising agency, as a marketing leader for global luxury fragrance brands across Latin America and Travel Retail Americas, and as a senior consultant to one of New Jersey's largest health systems.

Different industries. Different countries. Different markets. The pattern is usually the same: a strong business has real value, but the market doesn't understand it clearly enough yet.

Bergen Dad Media is where I bring senior strategic judgment directly to practices, professional service firms, and founder-led businesses that have something real to offer — and need their positioning, visibility, and trust signals to reflect it.

How I Got Here

I've been looking at businesses this way for as long as I can remember.

My first venture was at twelve. There was a home for the elderly near where I lived, and I realized some of the residents needed help walking their dogs and picking up groceries. I had customers within a week. I didn't have the language for it then, but I was already doing what I do now: looking at a situation, seeing what others missed, and finding the opportunity.

That instinct became a career. I led an advertising agency and worked across healthcare, professional services, public campaigns, consumer brands, and founder-led businesses. I learned how to read a business quickly — where it was strong, where it was unclear, where it was quietly fooling itself, and where the real growth opportunity was hiding.

I have also started ventures of my own, and some of them failed. That part matters. I know what it feels like to pour yourself into something and watch it not work. That is one reason I take other people's businesses seriously. I know the difference between activity that feels productive and strategy that actually matters.

What That Looks Like in Practice

A Founder-Led Business Stuck at 5% Visibility

Excellent service. Almost no visibility. The business was strong, but it was difficult to find in the searches that mattered, and its messaging sounded too much like everyone else.

I streamlined the positioning, identified the differentiator that actually moved buyers, and rebuilt how the business showed up across its website, Google presence, and authority signals.

Within nine months, visibility climbed from 5% to 70% across tracked Google and AI-search results.

A Global Luxury Brand Losing Ground in Latin America

Leading marketing for Parfums de Marly across Latin America and Travel Retail Americas, I analyzed performance market by market and found a red flag: in one market, ecommerce was outpacing in-store sales, which suggested the retail partnership wasn't working as it should.

We restructured the distribution strategy and built a stronger partnership with Palacio de Hierro. Within a year, sales grew by more than 300%. In Brazil, working point of sale by point of sale, I helped build a growth plan that took the brand to #2 in its niche within two years.

A Hospital With Excellent Care and a Perception Problem

At Palisades Medical Center — first as CMO of the agency that served it, later as a senior consultant to Hackensack Meridian Health — I found a hospital full of talented doctors, nurses, and staff whose quality was not fully reflected in public perception.

So we told the truth through real human stories. The "My Story" campaign featured Miracle on the Hudson survivor Dave Sanderson. A companion nurse storytelling series showed why nurses chose the work and what care meant to them.

The campaigns reached hundreds of thousands and helped shift how the community saw the hospital. I also helped build the medical center's first social media presence, presented competitive strategy to the CEO and board, and supported communications through its merger.

What impressed me most was how quickly they understood our business. The advice was thoughtful, practical, and never cookie-cutter. It felt like having an experienced marketing executive on our side who genuinely cared about getting it right.

How I'm Different From an Agency

When you work with Bergen Dad Media, you get me.

Not a junior account manager. Not a recycled playbook. Not a team of strangers executing a strategy no senior person thought through.

You get a strategist who has been in the rooms — board presentations, global brand decisions, hospital campaigns, market launches, and founder-led business challenges — bringing that judgment directly to your business.

Most agencies sell activity. I start with the questions that decide whether any activity will work:

What do you actually stand for? Who is the right patient, client, or buyer? Why should they trust you? Where are you invisible? Where are you unclear? What is worth fixing first?

That is where good marketing begins.

The Bergen Dad Connection

I'm also the creator of Bergen Dad, a platform about fatherhood, faith, and trying to live and work with more honesty and purpose.

That is not separate from how I approach this work. It is part of the foundation.

My faith teaches that work is both a gift and a responsibility — something we are meant to do with care, purpose, and love. When something is done with real care, people can feel the difference. It's true in family life. It's true in service. It's true in business.

That is the standard behind Bergen Dad Media: senior judgment, honest counsel, and work done like it matters — because it does.

Start With the Diagnostic

If your business is strong but your message, visibility, or positioning isn't as clear as it should be, the Diagnostic is the place to start. It's a senior second opinion on where your marketing is unclear, where your biggest opportunities are, and what to fix first.
